So
now that you have decided to have a Web site, what is the next step? Do
you just go online and get yourself a free and semi-finished Web site being
offered by several companies? Or do you have a Professinal Web Designer
create one for you?
All that really depends on how you want yourself be represented on the
internet where millions are people are bound to look at your Web site.
Do you want them to be impressed or be disappointed with your Web site?
A good Web Design does not really mean that you should have a Flash-based
site with all the great graphics and background music. Surprisingly, a
lot of people are quite annoyed by too much graphics and loud background
music. If you will notice some of the most popular Web sites, their design
is just simple with just minimal graphics and no background music at all.
Try and check out http://www.Ebay.com and http://BarnesandNoble.com. Those
two Web sites are among the top ten most popular Web sites and yet if
you notice, their design is basic and simple.
A good Web Design must reflect on the purpose of the Web site as well
as the owner's personality. If you wanted an e-commerce Web site to sell
your products, then the Web design must be able to present the visitor
a good navigation and a good site search to be able to locate the products
they need. Product pictures must also be Professional-looking so as to
present the product nicely and complete with product details.
If you wanted a Web site created for a Professional like a Dentist or
a Lawyer, then the design should present more of the personality or reputation
of the owner. It must be Professional-looking and a bit Corporate.
The only way to be able to find out more of good Web design, try searching
for a similar Web site as the one you want. Try and look at your competitor's
Web sites. Take down notes on if you like something from their Web site
and also things that you don't like. Try also to think of other ideas
that you would want your Web site to have that others do not have. Once
you have done your research, the next step is to ofcourse, contact me
